Welcome to another edition of the Backstage Pass! Please, come in, come in, there is much to explore! If you have been keeping up with the vampires, you will find they have wandered even deeper into the caverns. At first, it appeared they were on a mission to uncover what the Beings were after. But now? It seems like they are eager to get back to the surface. This is juxtaposed with the bus driver who has arrived at their destination, but does not have the luxury to return to the settlement, nor do they have the desire to settle in for the night where they stopped. As the ongoing long-going attractions, I do hope you’ll stop in and catch up with these two. The classic horror feature raises the tragic story of the narrator’s deceased uncle. Or, perhaps in the deceased uncle’s case, it isn’t tragic, per se, but more … curious. You’ll have to decide for yourself. And finally, there is the Master of Disguise, who despite their stellar performance, have found themselves caught.

Lots of fun to be had here! Don’t forget to visit the gift shop!

As a final thought, I want to point out that not a single word of this edition—nor any prior—whether expository or narrative (read: editorial content or stories) has been written with the use of AI. I now feel it entirely necessary to state this fact since AI has become prevalent in a number of ways across society, and I want to reassure you, my dearest guest, that what you consume here is all dreamed up by a human—me—and created by hand, the old fashioned way. Enjoy it as you like, though if you are inclined to attempt to feed my work to any AI model or platform, then I curse you with coffee that will always be either not hot enough, or not cold enough, nothing but red lights when you are in a hurry, and as miserable a death as can be called down upon you. If you don’t feed my work to AI, you can ignore all of that.

This week saw a whole lot more work going into The Conglomerate. More specifically, PLEROMA, the documentation database over which the entirety of the CANOPY Corporation operates. Once the revisions and filing systems are complete, the work on The Maw will continue! Granted, working on PLEROMA is working on The Maw in a way. It is the foundational work upon which The Maw will be built. Stay tuned, I hope to have more to share on your next visit!

A master of disguise is at the top of their game. Outside of this one single village. It seems no matter what, they always figure out the master’s game and he is always caught. Always. Let’s see what that looks like:

I do not normally feature stories oriented around epistolaries, but this one proved curious enough to want to share it. Come experience what our narrator uncovers as he addresses the affects of his recently deceased uncle:

The silhouette of a cowboy on a horse is superimposed over a background depicting an old farmhouse in a desert brush landscape. The author's name, 'Mad Alex,' is display over the title, 'Showdown at Sunrise,' at the top center of the design. At the bottom, the words 'A Tale From the Odds n Endings Boutique' are placed over the Mad Alex emblem.

Welcome to another installment of Bus Driver! When we last rode with the bus driver and his passengers, we finally pulled up to the outskirts of Las Vegas, rolling onto the lot just before the tarmac of the airport which served as their destination. You can read Part LVIII here. So, what now? What do the bus driver and passengers do as they while away the time, awaiting the plane that is supposed to pick up the scientist? Let’s find out →

Background is burst of alternating reddish-orange and tan ray coming out from the center of the image. Over this is the Mad Alex emblem, over which is placed the silhouette of a charter bus in a burnt orange. The text "Bus Driver" is boldly displayed to the right.
