What are the Hounds of Tindalos? Ravenous monsters from the edges of reality at the beginning of time. Or so suggests a Mr. Halpin Chalmers, of whose bizarre yarn you will venture through below. Adamant he was in discovering what lay beyond the known, and upon discovering it, realized he had made a rather grandiose mistake.

The Hounds of Tindalos was first published in the pulp horror magazine Weird Tales in 1929. Two years later, it would become immortalized in the body of cosmic horror by inclusion in Lovecraft’s The Whisperer in Darkness. It is both obscure and timeless, thanks to the efforts of Lovecraft and his cosmic horror compatriot August Derleth, who also nested Hounds in his own work, which served to extend that of Lovecraft’s. I do hope find the following feature engaging.
