The Hounds of Tindalos was first published in the pulp horror magazine Weird Tales in 1929. Two years later, it would become immortalized in the body of cosmic horror by inclusion in Lovecraft’s The Whisperer in Darkness. It is both obscure and timeless, thanks to the efforts of Lovecraft and his cosmic horror compatriot August Derleth, who also nested Hounds in his own work, which served to extend that of Lovecraft’s.
